Donation from NEW Cooperative Foundation Helps Badger Fire Department

A donation from the NEW Cooperative Foundation was recently awarded to the Badger Fire Department. With assistance from the O’Lakes Foundation, the gift of $10,000 will be used to purchase a new pumper truck. This new pumper truck will replace a 22 year old truck, currently used by the Fire Department, which does not meet necessary standards for fire equipment. The Badger Fire Department is made up of 18 members, four of which are EMT’s. Their fire and rescue services cover Badger and parts of Cooper and Deer Creek Township and the new pumper truck was necessary to respond to structure fires. Glen Westling, Badger Fire Chief, explained that the new truck will cost about $280,000, and the department will continue to raise money from other sources such as their annual barbecue dinner and street dance.
