Political Insight — To say that Iowa is going to be in the national political spotlight for the next six months would be an understatement. With the approach of the Iowa caucuses everyone will be watching and every Republican candidate will be visiting our state on a repeated basis.  Dr. Mack Shelley is going to share what you will be hearing from the candidates and what impact the results of the Iowa caucuses will have on the national election process.  Dr. Shelley is a Professor of Political Science at Iowa State University.

China — It seems like any meeting or presentation we attend today someone is going to mention India and China.  Last summer, Kayla Lyon of the Iowa Institute staff and Rick Vaughan, co-CEO of Innovative Ag Services spent 10 days in China as part of an Iowa State group.  One of the intended purposes of the trip was to have a dialogue with Chinese officials about the potential of cooperatives and how the Chinese government could promote cooperatives.  Rick and Kayla are going to share some of what they learned and what opportunities and obstacles to change they saw while in China.
